Overview
The Chronicle Season of Sharing is a Bay Area charitable fund to help individuals and families in crisis. Since its founding, the Chronicle Season of Sharing Fund has distributed $163 million, comprising $138 million in housing and critical needs assistance and $25 million in food assistance. These funds have gone to assist tens of thousands of households across the nine counties of the San Francisco Bay Area — Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma. At the beginning of 2022, the Chronicle Season of Sharing fund had raised over $17.2 million, an annual all-time record.
My Role
The bring more awareness to the fund, a video series was conceptualized to interview (6) past recipients of the fund. As a videographer filmed and interviewed the recipients, I provided branded motion graphics to the final videos: logo animation, stat highlights, closed captioning, call-to-action, etc.
Identifying the Goal
Help bring more awareness to the fund and encourage more donations.
Identifying Problems
First time creating long-form video promotion for the fund
Scheduling interviews with various recipients over the past few years
Brand Logo Animation
To help with all the intros, I animated the logo for use throughout the videos.
Name Introductions
With (6) total videos created, I animated the Name Introductions over their voiceover introductions. For efficiency, I created a template to the overall animation for easy editing of names and titles.
Newspaper Article Highlight
To help call out specific articles of the recipients, I animated isolated articles and their images.
Closed-Captioning
Working with another team member to transcribe the audio, I also created animated closed captioning for each video.
Call to Action Outro
To end each video, statistics from the fund were displayed and a call-to-action to the website for more information.
